Did you hear about Pentecostals, Baptists, Lutherans,Catholics, Seventh-day Adventists, and etc. in churches today? Ever wondered what they are all about?
These are called “Denominations” (really just a clique in church in my opinion). It’s really unfortunate that people have to name themselves differently. Denominations causes a lot of people to be confused and makes people don’t want to come to the Lord. It makes people think you are in a different religion or in a group. I personally just say that I am a Bible Believing Christian because I don’t want to cause any confusion within the church or when people ask me (those who aren’t saved yet).
I hope that many will stop labeling themselves and pull away from such denominational names and just call what you are: a Christian. If you don’t believe in the WHOLE Holy Bible, then I have to wonder if you are even a Christian or not. Christians love the stuff of the Lord and will want to keep pressing into Him, and learning about their faith. There may be times where you don’t agree with a certain passage but God doesn’t say to you, “Okay, you can do anything you want and you’ll get to heaven”. No, God takes His word seriously. His words in the Holy Bible is all his. He asked people back then who He trusted to write for Him so we can have a book today to live by. The Holy Bible is His love letter to us, it’s our way of how to live and be. It’s not a rule book but consider rules on how to go about things. God is THE way. NO other way can get us to heaven. NO other beliefs can get us to heaven. Only Way is Jesus Christ: we must confess with our mouth that He is Lord, confess our sins to Him, and believe He died for us and was resurrected on the third day.
In the Bible, Paul warned us not to do divisions in the church.
1 Corinthians 3:5-9
After all, who is Apollos? Who is Paul? We are only God’s servants through whom you believed the Good News. Each of us did the work the Lord gave us. I planted the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow. It’s not important who does the planting, or who does the watering. What’s important is that God makes the seed grow. The one who plants and the one who waters work together with the same purpose. And both will be rewarded for their own hard work. For we are both God’s workers. And you are God’s field. You are God’s building.
People seem to act differently towards you if they find out what “church” you go to. A lot people act as if they are the only right way to live: that the Baptist’ is the only right way. The Catholics is the only right way. The only right way is obeying Christ’ way, following in His footsteps. We need to be reading the New Testament for itself so we can know who the real Christians/Believers are. We will know by their fruit. Do they produce good or bad fruit in their lives? There are a lot of discussions about these kinds of topics and what I would personally say, “If you believe in Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord, confessed your sin to Him and repented, and also believed He arose from the dead, you are saved. No such thing as denomination in heaven”.
I am going to personally say I am not a Pentecostal, or Baptist, or Catholic or whatever other names are out there, I am a SAVED BIBLE BELIEVING CHRISTIAN and want to follow Jesus’ way and obey what He commands His followers to do. God is wanting no divisions in the church and to follow His Word as it’s supposed to be.
