Sometimes We Smile Just to Keep Back the Tears…

God blesses those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
~Matthew 5:4 NLT

Every day since April, I started to think more about life and how fragile life can really be. Especially if you don’t spend time with people that are dear to your heart, life can go fast. It can be gone in an instant. Exactly on April 11, 2015…I lost my friend who I knew since high school. It took a lot out of me that whole month. I had mixed feelings. Everywhere I looked, I was reminded of him. The school him and I attended was right across from my work. Flashbacks kept coming at me. This whole thing kind of turned my life upside down that month. I wasn’t able to write. Write what God had in my heart. My friend encouraged me to “Keep Writing”. Those words stuck. When it came to the funeral, I didn’t cry. Maybe some tears came down but I cried mostly at home. My mind just kept racing. Then those words came to my mind, “I’m so glad I was able to talk to him one last time”.

Life is fragile…and short. You don’t know who will stay or go. We don’t know when it is their time to leave this earth behind. Ever since my friend passed away I also thought of this one, “Where is he spiritually right now?” Only God knows so my part is to keep sharing the Good Message. The Message that Jesus is the Only Hope for all who call upon His name and believe.

It’s okay to mourn, it’s okay to cry, and it’s okay to get emotional. Jesus understands. Jesus went through the same thing with his friend, Lazarus (John chapter 11).

Spend time with your friends and family. Cherish every moment of every day. Keep it in a journal. Make a scrapbook. Take pictures. Make videos together. Play games. Spend less on the internet and go out and enjoy some fresh air: go hiking, swimming, fishing, etc.… If you do this with family and friends, you’d be glad you did.
