Every single day as a Christian, I read my Bible and then some days I just talk to God, then other days, I stare into space (literally) and ponder on my questions that I have on my faith. I have lots of questions. I’m sure you do too. Like why do I go through suffering/pain? So far, I’ve learned in this series “Hope When It Hurts” a devotional that no matter what comes our way, we have a destiny in the future and the Gospel is for us today.
As we wait upon the Lord for our healing, we also need to remember that He is molding us in this lifetime so we can be a witness to others. To share with other people our testimony in what God has done so far in our lives and what he continues to do.
2 Corinthians 4:7
But this precious treasure—this light and power that now shine within us—is held in perishable containers, that is, in our weak bodies. So everyone can see that our glorious power is from God and is not our own.
The struggles we go through day-to-day is something we can use to glorify God. While we wait for the pain to go, we can remember this one thing. We can go to God about all things and in our weaknesses, He will make us strong. That is when people ask you, “How can you be happy while you go through this pain”? He is molding me to become a man/woman he wants me to be. I’m not saying you will be in pain forever, but God wants us to glorify Him. I know it’s hard. But God doesn’t want you to give up.
2 Corinthians 12:6-10
I have plenty to boast about and would be no fool in doing it, because I would be telling the truth. But I won’t do it. I don’t want anyone to think more highly of me than what they can actually see in my life and my message, even though I have received wonderful revelations from God. But to keep me from getting puffed up, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger from Satan to torment me and keep me from getting proud. Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away. Each time he said, “My gracious favor is all you need. My power works best in your weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may work through me. Since I know it is all for Christ’s good, I am quite content with my weaknesses and with insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
Don’t take suffering as a negative, with God’s help; He turns it for your good.
I love testimonies when I hear that someone was healed. I get kind of annoyed when I hear that someone says, “They are waiting for God to heal them”. They just keep going about their day, complaining about their pain and saying that they wish that a healing will come. One of my family members goes through pain. It hurts me to see him go through it, but I noticed one thing about him: he doesn’t give up on God. He stays close to God no matter what. He prays and He even goes about his day doing regular things. He wishes it will just go away. Believe me, I have prayed to God to take it away. For him to be healed in Jesus’ name. With God all things are possible. But while we wait, I know without a doubt God is molding this family member of mine to become a man he is meant to be. I notice he is faithful and he takes things seriously with God. I admire and love that. He’s my dad. He has had this problem with his scalp for awhile now (25 years actually). I never see him giving up on God. He seeks Him no matter what.
Hell is for those who are self-seeking and for those who thought they didn’t need help.
(from-Hope When It Hurts –chapter 2 page)
This quote is simply what I believe too. When people talk about hell, they talk about it as its some big party and all their friends are going there. But when they do go there, it’s nothing that they thought. They wanted their friends to be there, have loud music and lights flashing, and some beer. Actually, it’s quite the opposite. Hell is nothing fun about it. Won’t you rather to be in the presence of Jesus Christ in Heaven? Many people do their own seeking on truth: going into new age and other false religions. They avoid the very one that is all TRUTH. They obviously believe that they can get help by doing things to make them happy. That isn’t it! Don’t you want HOPE?
Your weakness should drove yourself to pray and seek God in all things
